Guide to Courses at the MIE

MIE is a parastatal body under the aegis of the Ministry of Education. We offer courses and training for all workforce of  Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Schools.

The MIE link programme with the Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia has been running for ten years now. This link allows the trainees from the University, along with their tutors, to come to Mauritius for training in the teaching of English Language to non-native speakers of English.

 

Fond de Recherche sur le Climat )d’Investissement et l’Environnement des Affaires (FR-CIEA)

Disposant d’un montant total de $2,8 millions dollars USD, le FR-CIEA a été créé en 2006 par TrustAfrica, le Centre de Recherches pour le Développement International (CRDI) et la Fondation pour l’entreprise et le développement durable (FSED). La création du fond de recherche est inspirée par la conférence de la Commission des Nations Unies sur le développement et le secteur privé qui s’est tenue en 2004. Cette conférence a souligné le rôle que les entrepreneurs peuvent jouer dans le développement et a encouragé l’essor d’un secteur privé indépendant et dynamique dans les pays en voie de développement.

Mandate of the MIE
 The mandate of the MIE, as per its Act (1973), is:
 'to provide facilities and to engage in educational research, curriculum development and teacher education and thereby to promote the advancement of learning and knowledge in the field of education and, in particular, to provide a teacher education responsive to the social, economic, linguistic, administrative, scientific, agricultural and technological needs of Mauritius." (MIE Act, 1973:2)
