Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following programme scheduled to start in August 2010:


Main Fields of Study:

(iii)Design & Technology                                                 (ix)Physical Education

(iv)English                                                                     (x)Social Sciences

(v)French                                                                       (xi)Visual Arts

(vi)Science with Physics or Chemistry or Biology

Minimum Admission Requirements:


A Cambridge School Certificate with Credit in at least five subjects including English Language obtained at not more than two sittings or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the MIE;

(ii)A Cambridge Higher School Certificate or Passes in at least two subjects obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education 'Advanced Level';

(iii)A relevant degree from a recognized university in the required discipline; and

(iv)Personal and easy access to computer and internet facilities given that the course is run in a blended mode.

Duration of Course: One Semester on a Part-Time basis

Course Fee: A fee of Rs 6000/- for the whole course is payable at the beginning of the semester (excluding library and union fees).

Tuition fees will be waived for HRDC sponsored educators).


A School Certificate 'pass' in English Language together with a 'credit' in English Literature or a Higher School Certificate 'pass' in General Paper may be considered as an acceptable alternative to a School Certificate 'credit' in English Language.

(a)Qualifications obtained after the closing date will not be considered.

(b)Provisional degree results may be accepted for candidates who have not yet obtained their certificates.

(c)Seniority will be the determining criterion for in-service courses.

(d)Courses will be run subject to satisfactory response in different fields of study.

(e)Candidates who previously applied for any of the above courses are required to make fresh application.

(f)Candidates are required to follow only one course at a time at the MIE.

(g)The MIE reserves the right not to run any of the above-mentioned courses nor will it assign any reason thereof.

Applications must be made on prescribed Application Forms obtainable at the Reception Desk, Mauritius Institute of Education, Réduit, during office hours. Application forms may also be downloaded from MIE website

Completed application forms together with photocopies of supporting documents should reach the Office of the Registrar, MIE, Réduit, by Monday 26 July 2010 at 3.00 pmat latest.

The Course applied for should be clearly indicated at the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
