NATIONAL DRAWING COMPETITION
"Snacks and My Health"
To commemorate this year's World Health Day and to support the recent initiative of the
Ministry of Education,Culture and Human Resources to promote healthy eating among our
school children, all primary school pupils of StandardsIV, V and VIin Mauritius and Rodrigues
areinvitedtoparticipateinadrawingcompetitionorganisedbythe MauritiusInstituteof
Education (MIE).
Aim
The drawing competition aims at consolidating pupils' awareness about healthy and unhealthy
snacks and atfostering healthy eating habits and positive attitudestowards healthysnacking
among pupils and the school community at large.
Theme
The theme of the competition is "Snacks and My Health".Pupils of Standards IV, V and VI are
invitedtothinkofhowtheconsumptionofsnackscanaffecttheirhealthinapositiveor
negative way and then depict this into a drawing.
Eligibility Criteria
•Participants must be in Standard IV, V or VI in any primary school in Mauritius or Rodrigues.
Guidelines for Entries
Media:
•Any two-dimensional media including:
oDrawing (pencil, crayons, pastels, pen, ink, etc…)
oPainting (watercolour, oil painting, acrylic)
oMixed media (collage, print making, etc…)
Size:
•A4 paper.
To appear at the back of each entry:
•Name of the pupil
•Class of the pupil
•Name and address of school
•Seal of school
•Contact number
Other Guidelines:
•Each entry should be original and entirely done individually.
•Drawing caption can be added to the drawing, but should not exceed 8 words and must be
written in English or in French.
Closing Date for Submission
Entries should be mailed or submitted in sealed envelopes with the words "Drawing
Competition" on the top left hand corner by 30th
April 2010 to:

Selection Process
A review panel will judge each entry on the basis of (i) originality and creativity; (ii) relevance to
competition theme and (iii) neatness.
Prizes and Certificates
•A certificate of participation will be awarded to each school which will submit entries.
•Prizes will be awarded to the best 5 entries.
Handling of Entries and Intellectual Property
Entries will not be returned. All entries shall remain the property and copyright of the MIE, and
may be used or reproduced by the MIE for nutrition education and awareness activities.
