Post of Internal Auditor (On Contract Basis)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the Post of Internal Auditor on a contract basis.
Age Limit:
Candidates, unless already in the service, should not have reached their 40th birthday by the closing date for the submission of applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
A. A pass at the final examination required for admission to membership of one of the following bodies:
- The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales;
- The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland;
- The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland;
- The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;
- The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
- The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.
Or
An equivalent qualification acceptable to the MIE Council
B. At least four years’ experience in auditing and/or accounting duties.
Candidates should produce written evidence of experience claimed.
Duties:
1. To conduct internal audit at the Mauritius Institute of Education;
2. To develop a systematic audit testing of internal control;
3. To be responsible for:
(i) examining, evaluating and reporting on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls;
(ii) reviewing the reliability of records and enforcing management decisions; and
(iii) undertaking special assignments, as directed;
4. To make recommendations on improvements to the system of procedures to achieve accuracy, eliminate errors, defalcation, wastage, fraud and the maintenance of an up-to-date and well organized database.
5. To undertake special audit investigations as directed by the MIE Council.
6. To submit report on inspections made and propose remedial measures, whenever required.
7. To conduct staff training and prepare draft audit guides and instructions.
8. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Internal Auditor as may be assigned.
Salary Scale: Rs 21 400 x 600 – 23 200 x 800 – 28 000 x 1000 – 30 000 x 1250 – 40 000 + salary compensation at approved rates.
Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be in the above salary scale.
An end-of-contract gratuity in lieu of pension will be paid as per PRB Report 2008.
