Priority of consideration will be given to candidates with higher, and appropriate, pedagogical qualifications.

 

Duties:

 

To have responsibilities and to carry out such duties as may be assigned by the Director in:

 

(i)             Teacher Education

(ii)            Professional Studies

(iii)           Curriculum Reform and Development

(iv)          Research and other studies

(v)           Supervision of students’ work and teaching practice

(vi)          Educational Administration

(vii)         Any other cognate duties

 

Salary Scale:    Rs 23,200 x 800 – 28,000 x 1,000 – 30,000 x 1,250 – 45,000

 

 

2          Accountant  (on contract)

 

            Qualifications:

 

A Pass at the final examination required for admission to membership of one of the following bodies:

 

(i)             The Institute of Chartered Accounts of England and Wales;

(ii)            The Institute of Chartered Accounts of Scotland;

(iii)           The Institute of Chartered Accounts of Ireland;

(iv)          The Association of Chartered Certified Accounts;

(v)           The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;

(vi)          The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.

 

Duties:

 

a.     To assist the Financial Controller in the accounting and financial management of the Institute.

b.    To keep record in respect of funds managed by the Institute and to assist in the preparation of financial statements.

c.     To prepare financial reports including budgets and to make recommendations taking into account established financial policy as applicable to the Institute.

d.    To perform such cognate duties as may be assigned.

 

            Note

 

            Candidates should

 

                      I.        be fully conversant with latest accounting standards, including IFRS, GAAPs, etc.

 

                     II.        have experience in computer application, eg. word, excel, accounting  packages, etc.

 

Salary

 

Will commensurate with qualifications and experience.

           

 

3          Open and Distance Learning Assistant  -   (2 years’ contract)

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

                    I.        A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant discipline

                   II.        Ideally the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Assistant should will have  knowledge in Learning Management System (LMS) software such as Moodle  and experience in technical administration of a production LMS.

                  III.        Experience in managing ODL projects and working in virtual project teams is an asset; and excellent computer skills together with the use of learning  management systems are essential.

                 IV.        Preference will be given to candidates with training experience and certification in web technologies such as HTML, IIS, Apache, MySQL and PHP Javascript.

 

Duties:

 

The Open and Distance Learning Assistant will be responsible for the completion of the following major duties and tasks:

 

o    Install, monitor, maintain and administer the production and development of LMS Software environment of the Open and Distance Learning

o    Implement and manage proper backup and archival procedures for the production of LMS environment

o    Provide technical support for the LMS users

o    Create, modify and delete accounts of LMS users

o    Provide technical assistance to academics and students

o    Work with Distance Education and Quality Assurance team to ensure that all learning management

o    systems are validated and are maintained in a validated state

o    Facilitate the development of e-learning opportunities in the LMS and proper documentation of the e-learning events in the system to maintain correct versioning.

 

Salary

Flat salary of minimum Rs 20,000/- per month

 

4          Administrative Officer

 

Qualifications:

 

(a)   (i)   Two ‘A’ levels or an acceptable alternative qualification.

(ii)   A degree from a recognized Institution or an acceptable alternative qualification.

(iii)  Two years experience in education or administration.

or

 

(b)   (i)  A Diploma in Public Administration and Management (DPAM) of the University of  Mauritius or an acceptable alternative qualification.

 

                    (ii) Five years experience in a higher executive or administrative position.

 

Duties:

 

To assist the Registrar or the Assistant Registrar in his administrative responsibilities; and to carry out such other administrative duties in support of the academic and professional work of the Institute.

 

Salary Scale     :           Rs 19,000 x 600 – 23,200 x 800 – 28,000 x 1,000 – 

                                    30,000 x 1,250 – 40,000

 

 

5          Systems Administrator

 

Qualifications:

 

A Degree in Computer Science with experience in systems administration, networking and programming.

 

 

Duties:

(a)  To be responsible to the Registrar for the administration and maintenance of the Institute Computer Network System.

 

(b)  To plan, organize and direct the functions of the Information and Communication Technology Unit.

 

(c)  To assist in the implementation of the Institute ICT strategies.

 

(d)  To install new softwares and train users.

 

(e)  To perform any other cognate duties.

 

 

Salary Scale     :           Rs 19,600 x 600 – 23,200 x 800 – 28,000 x 1,000 –

                                    30,000 x 1,250 – 40,000

6          Educational Data Assistant

 

Qualifications:                        

 

Credit in five subjects including English Language, French Language and Mathematics at the School Certificate level, or GCE ‘O’ level equivalents.

 

TOGETHER WITH

 

Two passes at ‘A’ level, one of which should be Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science.

 

OR

 

Acceptable alternative qualifications.

 

NOTE:  In lieu of ‘Credit’ in English Language, ‘Pass’ in English Language + ‘Credit’ in English Literature or ‘Pass’  in General Paper at HSC level is acceptable.

Duties:

 

1.     To assist with the collection, compilation, computation and processing of data.

 

2.     To draw up and write simple flow charts and programmes under supervision.

7          Graphic Designer

 

 

Qualifications:

 

(a)           Cambridge School Certificate with credit in five subjects or any other acceptable alternative qualification.

 

(b)           Two subjects at ‘A’ Level, with at least one ‘A’ Level in Art/Design or related field or any other acceptable alternative qualification.

 

(c)           A Diploma in Visual Arts or Graphic Designing or Communication Graphic or an equivalent qualification

 

(d)           Proficiency in operating Hardware & Graphics Software in both Macintosh and PC Platform would be an advantage.

 

 

Note:              In the absence of the above qualifications, consideration will be given to internal candidates with at least five years experience as Graphics Artist.

 

 

Duties:

 

1.     To do research and investigation work related with graphics work.

 

2.     To create, design and produce publications (Newsletters; Brochures; Manuals; Journals etc.) and graphical presentation

 

3.     To assist academics in producing educational and multi-media teaching materials

 

4.     To be responsible for the work from pre-press conception to printing/on-line publications

 

5.     To develop Multi Media instructional materials using appropriate equipment and techniques.

 

6.     To operate Macintosh/PC Graphics Stations and other graphics equipment using graphics softwares such as Adobe Photoshop; Illustrator; Freehand; Quark Xpress; Macromedis Dreamweaver and Flash.

 

 

Salary Scale:    Rs 14,200 x 400 – 15,000 x 500 – 16,000 x 600 – 23,200 x 800 –

28,000 x 1,000 – 29,000

 

8          Clerk/Word Processing Operator

 

Qualifications:

 

Credit in five subjects including English Language, French Language and Mathematics at the Cambridge School Certificate level.

 

 

OR       GCE ‘O’ level equivalents.

 

OR       Acceptable alternative qualifications.

 

NOTE:  In lieu of ‘Credit’ in English language, ‘Pass’ in English language +   ‘Credit’ in English Literature or ‘Pass’ in General Paper at HSC level is   acceptable.

 

  In lieu of ‘Credit’ in French Language, ‘Pass’ in French Language + ‘Credit’ in French Literature is acceptable.

 

  In lieu of ‘Credit’ in Mathematics, ‘Pass’ in Mathematics + ‘Credit’ in Statistics or Computer Science/Studies is acceptable.

 

 

A typing speed of not less than 30 words per minute.

 

 

Knowledge of Shorthand will be an advantage.

Qualifications:

 

Credit in five subjects including English Language, French Language and Mathematics at the Cambridge School Certificate level or GCE ‘O’ level equivalents.

NOTE:  In lieu of ‘Credit’ in English Language, ‘Pass’ in English Language +  ‘Credit’ in English Literature or ‘Pass’ in General Paper at HSC level is  acceptable.

    1. Routine finance, establishment and stores work under supervision.

 

    1. Simple correspondence usually in the type of stock form letters or printed replies sent under general instruction.

 

                     ii.        To carry out pay duties as and when required.

 

                    iii.        To assist in the collection, compilation and processing of data generally.

 

                    iv.        To perform other cognate duties.

10         Stores Attendant

 

Qualifications:            

 

The Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLC) or an acceptable alternative qualification.

Duties                         

1.             To collect, carry, load, unload stores materials.

 

2.             To deliver stores materials to Sections making request.

 

3.             To collect and despatch stores correspondence.

 

4.             To examine doors and locks frequently.

5.             To keep storerooms and related offices clean.

 

6.             To do proper classification of items of stocks.

7.             To perform other cognate duties.

 

Salary Scale     :           Rs 7,400 x 200 – 10,200 x 250 – 11,700
