About the Conference

This conference aims to look at the opportunities and challenges that globalization brings to the world of education and how to ensure that education systems contribute to really empowering learners and teachers so that they can become truly global citizens. Borders are collapsing and we are lining in an era where mediascapes, technoscapes and financescapes are taking the upper hand and shaping our lives in multiple ways. Unless education systems equip their people with the right kinds of skills, values and responses reached in this world, it would be very difficult for individuals to find a niche for themselves as the 21st century unfolds. At the same time, the education systems should aim at “Education for All” for poverty alleviation and inclusion. If, regionalization in the education sector may be one solution to cope with globalization, we should also ask ourselves what will be the place of small states in this regionalized world.
